unusual item: a lockbox from the Railroad-likely the Railway Express Agency — large sticker addressed to the ‘Express Employes [sic]’ on the inside of the lid — info remains indicating this was shipped from the Loeb Arcade Co. of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and that this was likely a special safety shipping container for early Movie Film which of course was cellulose nitrate and highly flammable — it is made of galvanized steel with iron handle, rivets and corner braces, and is lined with a thick paper like substance on three sides and the bottom — measures app. 8 by 11 in. by about 11 1/2 in. high —
— rough condition but gloriously so…dirty and worn but nonetheless functional — classic barn find —
— *always listing interesting historical Tech* —
