LOCATION:Bull Gill Allerdale (Cumbria)DATE: 19th March 1983SUBJECT:A striking photograph against a rugged landscape of ex-LMSStanier Coronation (Semi) Class 4-6-2 Duchess of Hamilton BR No. 46229 seen here showing lotsof smoke in charge of the S.L.O.A.s Cumbrian Mountain Pullman train near thesite of the then closed Bull Gill station. The Duchess was the sole steammotive power for this rail tour which utilised stock comprising of 13 coachesincluding 10 Pullman carriages. She came onto the train at Carlisle (UpperbyDepot) and ran the train as far as Leedsvia the Settle & Carlisle line. CONDITION: Excellent clean and unmarked save for identificationdetails hand written on label to reverse (see scan). Good sharp corners andedges.PHOTOGRAPHER: R. L.
