LOCATION:Neasden,NW LondonDATE:Undated but pre July 1933SUBJECT: Verymuch an original portrait from the inter war years of Metropolitan RailwayClark F Class 0-6-2T No. 90 seen here at rest outside Neasdens steam shed from a time of pre-LT when theMetropolitan Railway (MR) was still an independent company.Built for the MR by the Yorkshire Engine Co., she enteredservice during 1901 as No. 90. The design by T. F. Clark was an extension ofthe earlier E class, of which just four were built as Nos. 90 93, and theywere intended to work the companys heaviest freight trains over the MR mainline. From 1 July 1933 the MR was absorbed into London Transport and renumberedto L49, a running number that she then carried until withdrawal from service during1957 but not scrapped until 1962. CONDITION: Goodfor age clean and unmarked save for identification details hand written inpencil to reverse. Two mildly worn corners and with one corner crease to upperright (which does not impinge on the subject matter) and approx. 7mm tear tolower edge but which could be easily masked using a card mount and framing (seescan).PHOTOGRAPHER:Not known.TYPE:Unbordered approx.
