B & O Railroad china is the official china the railroad used from 1827 until their last run and closure in 1978.  They commissioned dated pieces specifically for that.  Called china, Restaurant ware is heavier than fine china, made for endurance.  The plates weigh almost 2 pounds each.  Shenango China (later bought out by Corning and Pyrex) had the contract for the B & O.  My mother-in-law worked and retired from that company.

B & O had a separate piece of china for everything, each with its’ own purpose.  This is a much sought after piece, the chocolate pot.  Many of these have lost their lids.  This is complete.  dated 1977, it shows The Horse Drawn Car 1830 and The Philip E Thomas 1838.  5 7/8 inches high.
