LOCATION: Unknown (but between Guide Bridge – York)DATE: 26th May 1979SUBJECT: A fine lineside shot ofex-MR Johnson Compound 4-4-0 LMS No. 1000 & ex-LNER Gresley V2 Class2-6-2 Green Arrow No. 4771 seen here in the pouring rain working inharness at the head of eleven Mk. 1 coaches with the SLOA The Curator rail tour.It was appropriate that two National Railway Museumlocomotives should work the steam section. They made a fine pairing. I believethat the tour was dedicated the former head of the NRM, John Scholes, who hadrecently died. Some unrealistic timings on the Hope Valley route meant thattime was lost time, and the Sheffield to York line hardly offered the scope forany recovery. Steam motive power in the form of these two fine locomotiveshandled the Guide Bridge – Woodley – New Mills South Jn -Chinley – Hope – Grindleford – Dore -Sheffield – Rotherham – Wath Jn – Moorhouse- Pontefract – Burton Salmon – Church Fenton York leg.CONDITION: Good -unmarked save for photographer’s identification label to reverse (see scan) and some signs of sufiding (slight yellowing) in the upper left corner due to less than effective washing during the photographic process.PHOTOGRAPHER: Ken Bull.TYPE: Unbordered glossfinish (10 x 8)” b & w original photograph – ideal size & subject for framing (was once displayed this way). All my photographs and postcards aretissue paper-wrapped and supported between stiff cardboard for maximumprotection via the post – see previous good Feedback from earlier buyers of myvintage postcards and photographs,From a smoke-free homeIam happy to combine purchases to help reduce postage & packaging costs. Please note that listings to be purchased with Buy It Now willremain for sale by eBay unless the buyer pays right away.
