This Boiler Water gauge glass protector was removed from LMS Jubilee 45682 TRAFALGAR. I cannot substantiate this. The item has been mounted on a black wooden board and fixed on it with wooden blocks, upper and lower, which replicate the brass top and bottom fixings to the boiler. A water gauge glass is fixed inside the protector and can be part filled with water if required. The rear of the protector has the diagonal striped metal plate which will show the refracted water level when part filled with water. The whole fixture can be fixed to a wall if required.
45682 Trafalgar was built at Crewe in 1936. In September 1950 it was based at Bristol Barrow Road. It was withdrawn in 1964 and cut up at Birds, Morriston, Swansea.
