Fogg and Steam By Frank Clodfelter A regional look at steam in North America. This is a good condition softcover book. This book has a special note written in it from the legendary Howard Fogg to my late father. They were friends throughout the 1980’s till Mr. Foggs passing in 1996. I know these books are fairly easy to find but the note from Fogg makes this one super special to own. Free S&H in the USA. No reserve. Good Luck. Feel free to ask any questions. Summary:Fogg and Steam By Frank Clodfelter A regional look at steam in North America with dust jacket. 150 pagesFogg and Steam is a spectacular celebration of the steam locomotive era! A tour de force of railroadiana that includes 26 never-before-published Howard Fogg paintings and over 100 superb photographs brought together in a large, handsome 14×101/2 hardcover format. Text by rail enthusiast Frank Clodfelter includes contributions by Howard Fogg, Richard H. Kindig, Omer Lavallee, J. Norman Lowe, Louis M. Newton, and Jim Scribbins. Photographs by some of the country’s foremost rail cameramen complete this tribute to the glory years of steam. Fogg and Steam was created by men with a single-minded devotion and love for those masterpieces of design and machined precision – the steam locomotives of North America! How did this magnificent album of railroad memories begin? According to author Frank Clodfelter: “Fogg and Steam … started when I was an infant. My parents unknowingly conveyed to me the idea that railroading was the most important and fascinating business on earth. My mother carried me in her arms aboard trains amid a baptism of engine smoke and cinders to indoctrinate me . . .”Clodfelter’s life is the dream of every railfan, for he lived around and worked with “those exhaust-cracking engines” knowing the thrill of handling the throttle and excitement of a fast-running locomotive. In an effort to preserve an esthetic appreciation of railroading, Clodfelter commissioned a series of paintings from noted rail artist Howard Fogg. His purpose was twofold: first, to retain in book form a pictorial record of a few North American trains. Secondly, it was to honor the life of an American artist who, for over three decades, has followed his own drummer by painting trains for a livelihood.
