TWO LARGE FORMAT POSTCARDS, 8.75 INCHES BY 5.5 INCHES, MOUNTED ONTO 7 BY 10 INCH PINE BOARDS 3/4 INCH THICK, WHICH HAVE DECORATIVE TRIM ROUTED INTO THEM, AND HAVE BEEN STAINED AND VARNISHED FOR WALL HANGING.  THE TWO POSTCARDS SHOW:

 

 

4-8-2 MOHAWK #3100 AT COLD SPRING, NEW YORK, HEADING A SOLID TRAIN OF NEW “PACEMAKER” BOXCARS ON MAY 1, 1946FAIRBANKS-MORSE “ERIE BUILT” DIESEL LOCOMOTIVE #5000 HEADING A SHORT TRAIN IN JUNE, 1948 AT AN UNSPECIFIED LOCATIONEACH PLAQUE HAS A PRINTED INFORMATION NARRATIVE PASTED ON THE REVERSE.  THE PHOTOS WERE TAKEN BY THE NYC COMPANY PHOTOGRAPHER ED NOWAK AND ISSUED ON POSTCARDS BY A THIRD PARTY.  THE MOUNTING WAS DONE BY A CRAFT SHOW SELLER IN KANSAS CITY.  THE WOODWORKING IS PROFESSIONAL-LOOKING.
