ALDERNEY: 2004 5 Pounds,  “The Golden Age of Steam” (E), .925 silver proof + capsule + certificate – top grade   (my ref. 417.5)2013 Krause catalogue ref. no. KM # 97:     proof  $60.00. 2013 Coin Yearbook value:      proof  45.00. This beautiful coin was part of a series of 18 produced for the Channel Islands (6 each for Alderney, Guernsey and Jersey) by the Royal Mint to commemorate the “Golden Age of Steam”. This one features “preparing the Locomotive”.It had a maximum of 10,000 coins. The first complete series of 18 coins was dated 2004 but some issues were produced again dated 2006.  The catalogues have rather muddled up some of the entries. It has a diameter of 38.61 mm, weighs 28.28 grams and was struck in .925 silver.  It is a proof with frosted relief.   It is housed in a clear plastic capsule and comes with a Royal Mint certificate of authenticity with specifications and a brief history. In excellent condition.General information:                                                                                          We do not use coin grading terms but we provide exact images of each item to help you decide upon the condition yourself.  We show our normal postage and packing terms below but please email us if you have any queries or special requirements and we will endeavour to accommodate them if this is possible and reasonable.  Multiple Purchases, Combined Postage Discount and Invoicing:We give generous combined postage discounts if you win multiple items.   This is calculated by weight and a number of items may cost the same as or only slightly more than a single item.  If you win multiple lots please wait for an invoice. We send these out by the end of the evening when all our lots have finished.  If you have finished your bidding, you can request an invoice immediately and we will usually respond within a few minutes.Post and Packing Policy:We use a padded envelope and all items will be well packed. We try to keep postage and packing charges close to cost price. Please note that Royal Mail increase their postage charges in early April each year. Customs Labels:All packages posted to countries outside the UK and European Union must display a customs label. This will show the full value of the contents (rounded to the nearest pound). Please do not ask us to show a lower value as this is completely illegal and also against eBays rules. Please note: From personal experience, a small proportion of packages sent to countries outside the UK are routinely checked by the destination countrys customs authorities. Any customs duties, import levies or postal surcharges that might be applied in your own country are entirely your responsibility. This applies to all goods traded throughout the world.PayPal Buyers Guarantee:In order to comply with the terms of the PayPal Guarantee scheme, we must obtain proof of delivery. Some buyers do not seem to realise that PayPal will recover the cost of any successful claim made under this scheme, from the seller! For this reason, we reluctantly have to use the Royal Mail International Signed-For service for all packages sent to countries outside the UK and European Union. If you are uncertain about this, please contact us well before you bid so that there will not be any misunderstanding. Items posted to UK destinations: For packages up to 60 – these can be sent either by ordinary 1st class postage at your risk (we will obtain a certificate of postage as proof that we have posted the item) or by “signed for recorded delivery” at our risk. For packages over 60 – these must be sent by either “signed for recorded delivery” with compensation up to 60 at our risk and the excess at your risk (for the amount above 60) or by “special delivery” fully insured at our risk. Items posted to European Union destinations: For packages up to 60 – these can be sent either by Royal Mail airmail small packets service sent at your risk or by “International signed for” delivery which is tracked and registered and sent at our risk. For packages from 60 to 100 – these must always be sent by “International signed for” delivery which is tracked and registered with compensation up to 60 at sent our risk and the excess at your risk (for the amount above 60) or with additional compensation up to 500 for an extra charge and sent at our risk. For packages over 100 – these must always be sent by “International signed for” delivery which is tracked and registered with additional compensation up to 500 and sent at our risk. Items posted to Worldwide destinations (outside the UK and EU): For packages under 60 – these must always be sent by “International signed for” delivery which is tracked and registered with compensation up to 60 at sent our risk. For packages over 60 – these must always be sent by “International signed for” delivery which is tracked and registered with compensation up to 500 and at sent our risk.
