Antique 1923 German Cast Bronze BMS DRG Class E 77 Electric Locomotive Plaque
Here is a very interesting and rare plaqueMade of thick cast bronze with it’s original green paintHigh-relief block lettering – B M S
BMS was a company connected with Berliner Maschinenbau AG (BMAG) – a German manufacturer of railway locomotives. The plaque was most likely part of DRG (Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft) Class E 77 – a German Pantograph electric locomotive class, ordered in 1923 and entered into service in 1924, retired in 1968The 56 units of this class were specifically intended for the Halle (Saale) – Leipzig train line and for routes in southern Germany. The locomotive was produced by BMAG, Krauss and LHW, with the electrical parts provided by BMS
Note the green color of the paint, original to the plaque and most likely the color of the locomotiveAntique, German in origin, circa 1923-1924
