This is an unused book, with ‘sign for’ cover still stapled on to the first index page which is the lead photo above. In excellent condition, this “Working Manual for Rail Staff” ref number BR 30054/6 (ie section 6) is nearly 1 cm thick and weighs approx 140g. No pen marks, torn or missing pages etc.
The giant staple used is showing slight signs of rust.

I’ve illustrated a few pages to try and give an impression about what this book is about….which is pretty much every a driver/guard/shunter/chargeman would need to know about operating a freight train – everything from TOPS input and train list preparation, movement of crippled wagons, Freightliner trains, axle loadings, brake force, brake vans, restricted working codes, working instructions for HAA wagons and so on.
