The first 2 articles are taken from Modern Railways magazine. Entitled “Edinburgh Waverley and the East Scotland Resignalling Project”.
1) June 1978. Introduction of Edinburgh PSB. Track plan / layout from Falkirk High in the west through to just beyond Reston in the south, including Waverley station, all junctions, Suburban line etc. B & W photos. 4 pages
2) July 1978 more info on signalling within the area, new changes, special signalling features particularly at Waverley itself. More photos. 3 pages
The 3rd article is from Modern Railways May 1974. Entitled “West Coast Electrification (3) Resignalling Complete”, it is a detailed article on the MAS resignalling from Penrith to Glasgow Central. Detailed track plan / layout as per the photo. Plenty of B & W photos. Focus on Carlisle and Motherwell in particular. Another large track plan / layout features Glasgow Central and adjoining lines in some detail along with descriptions facts/figures on signal boxes abolished, track circuits, power operated points and so on.
How the Motherwell area in particular copes with such a vibrant scene comprising heavy bulk freight, Liner traffic to Coatbridge, InterCity fast trains as well as the intensive emu operated suburban services. 8 pages of notes, pictures and track layouts etc
An ideal read if you are interested in signalling and operations.
