This is the Western Region Weekly Freight Train Notice no 50 w/c December 7th 1985, together with 4 Daily Supplementary Notices. The main notice consists of 16 pages and covers all aspects of WR Freight movements planned for that week. For example, Llandarcy oil tank traffic, Oil (Thames Haven), Coal and Coke traffic, Stone/Sand traffic (Mendip Quarries, ARC Tytherington), Cement Traffic, Cartics (Morris Cowley), Steel traffic (Llanwern / Port Talbot etc), Freightliner, Chemicals (Baglan Bay and Severn Beach), Lime (Margam), UKF Chemicals (Truro and others) plus special entries for Scrap, Nuclear Flask traffic, Aberthaw weekend MGR traffic, and so on. One section – Freight train engineering diversions – has been crossed out by hand, otherwise no torn or missing pages or scribbled notes etc. Includes headcodes, route information, days running/cancelled/not running and in some cases loads eg 37 PGA wagons.

The Daily Supplements usually consist of 1 – 3 pages and include very late notice items – such as 9X32 Strrawberry Hill to Swindon conveying class 455 EMU vehicles, 9X79 Old Oak to Wolverton taking coaches for repair, or 6Z02 Pembroke Dock to Ludgershall conveying MOD vehicles, or 8X97 Totnes to Radyr conveying various Dart Valley Railway vehicles. Timings usually included too.

Note that Supplement no 3 has a couple of very small marks on it (either ‘damp’ marks or possibly tea stains!) but these do not obscure any of the workings, which also include additional / amended / cancelled workings. An amazing insight into Railfreight operations on the Western Region in the mid 1980s. Genuine and original.

This is my last Weekly Freight Train Notice and supplements. There are still some Freight ‘odds and ends’ to be listed one of these days, but to those of you who have bidded for these over the past 6 months or so, then I thank you.
