A superb original LNER series Carriage Print issued in the late 1940s/ early 1950s for display in railway carriages. The print survived from the railway stores in the late 1960s and is NOT a reproduction. The location is Cavendish, Suffolk, The green at Cavendish in Suffolk with its cottages and church seems to form the most natural of man-made compositions, and thankfully it did not look very different in 2006. The cottages rejoice in the name Hyde Park Corner, and being ruinous in 1956 were then restored before being burnt down and restored again. Looking at them today after these restorations, some detailed differences in window and door layout, over half a century after the artist visited, can be discerned. Cavendish was once a station on the Stour Valley line which was closed between Sudbury and Cambridge in 1967. The painting is by the local artist and draughtsman Fred Baldwin – close friend of renowned East Anglian artist Leonard Squirrell RWS RE. These prints are very collectable and are far easier to display than a railway poster (and less expensive, too!). Overall print size 20″ x 10″ (508 x 254mm), Image Size 16″ x 6″. It is in mint, unused condition and I will post, 2nd class delivery in a strong tube.
