RAILWAYANAFor sale is this rare vintage collection of 9 railway company pay cheque token wage tins. Each has an raised impressed number in the lid. One has LMSRC stamped on the side. Hard to find such a number together. I understand that the railway employee would be given a pay cheque token on the Thursday which would then be exchanged for a corresponding numbered wage tin containing their pay on the Friday. The token would have been returned into a collection tin. The wage tins were stored in a wooden tray. Great piece of social history.Measure up to 7.5cm tall, 4.5cm wide.In reasonable condition, some age decay – they have been rubbed down and waxed to prevent further deterioration.Collection available if preferred.
