A bound set of Volume 8 of the Southern Railway Magazine, covering the months January to November 1930. Packed full of information of interest to the railway historian, this monthly magazine seems to have been aimed at members of the Southern Railway’s staff as well as railway enthusiasts of the time.
The bound volume was presumably designed to hold a complete year’s issues and it appears full so it is unclear why (apart from the frontispiece) the December issue is missing. The other issues appear to be complete (bar a couple of pages) and remain tight in the binding.
Illustrated are the front and back hard covers, the frontispiece of the January issue and a sample page (one of over 450). All pages are packed full of information and articles of railway interest, profusely illustrated, and there is no advertising whatever.
Condition is generally sound, with none of the pages torn, creased or defaced in any way. However, the back cover is almost adrift from the spine but this could be repaired with care.
