RailroadTreasures offers the following item:  Haverhill & Amesbury Street Railway 1948? Stapled 10 Pages  Haverhill and Amesbury Street Railway Stapled 1948? 11 PagesAMONG the nine companies absorbed by the Massachusetts Northeastern Street Railway in its 1913 consolidation was the Haverhill & Amesbury Street Railway-one of the pioneer electric railway lines in the Merrimac Valley of Massachusetts and one of the most interesting. Built in1892, at a time when the electric railway industry was in its early infancy, the Haverhill & Amesbury, although just another country trolley line, nevertheless had an air of distinction about it that is well remembered to this day by those who rode and worked on the little green and white “Toonervilles” which, for 17 years, served the communities of Haverhill, Merrimac, Amesbury, Salisbury and Newburyport. In compiling this history, I have gathered much material from files of the Amesbury Daily News and the long-defunct Amesbury and Salisbury Villager. Other information has come from former employes of the road and from the annual reports of the Massachusetts Railroad Commissioners. Invaluable assistance was provided by Mr. Paul Bickford, foreman at the Salisbury carhouse for many years. This history i s respectfully dedicated to Leander E. Lynde, superintendent of the Haverhill & Amesbury Street Railway from 1893 until 1910, and the only living charter member of the New England Transit Club.
