BACKGROUND INFO: This is small vintage print, a Diamond Match advertising promo. The print is titled ILLINOIS TERMINAL RAILWAY #451 (1949). Bottom edge reads: copyright Diamond National Corporation, Diamond Match Division, New York, N.Y. The Diamond National Corporation often teamed up its’ advertising with trains and railroads, and in this case, made promotional prints of a very popular old streetcar. Street cars, trams, tramways, trolleys were all popular modes of transportation during the 1940s and 1950s.The entire piece measures 8″ x 6″ (20,5 x 15,5cm). The verso (reverse side) is blank. Printed in blue, yellow, red and black. Overall condition is: VERY GOOD. Some rounding to the corners and light toning due to age. The lithography work is beautiful — matte on matte paper. Nice detail. The start of a few slight creases, more like slight indentations, probably from the paper having been handled over time. or perhaps from the original packaging, presumably with boxes of matches. The slight starts of creases aren’t obvious, but deserve mention. Nice, clean and odor-free item. RARE FIND!!
