This is for an antique Victorian copper medal commemorating the English inventor and engineer James Watt. The reverse reads ‘Royal Cornwall Polytechnic Society Instituted in 1833’ and the outer edge of the medal is engraved ‘Awarded to Mrs Popham Sept 25 1855’. The medal is marked with the maker W. Wyon A. RA mint and it comes in its original leather display case. The medal is in excellent condition with no damage to it anywhere and it measures 45mm (1.75″) in diameter. The case has surface wear.
