LOCATION: Meadowhall and Wincobank, South Yorkshire
IMAGE DATE: 1928 SUBJECT:A historic postcard subject entitled An Ingot Travelling to Manchester,1928 depicting a very heavy load of cast iron (112-ton) in the form ofan ingot waiting for a LNER J11 0-6-0 locomotive to attach for its journey tothe Vickers Armstrong Works at Openshaw in Manchester. The ingot would havebeen cast at the River Don Works, Sheffield and freight of 0this nature wasoften conveyed on this line. The station was on the Barnsley to Sheffield branch (“BlackburnValley Line”), the last station on the southern end of the line. It servedthe communities of Brightside, Wincobank and Blackburn. The main stationbuilding, alongside Blackburn Road, remains and is in good condition. It wasrenamed as Meadow Hall and Wincobankin July 1899, keeping that name until it was closed to passengers on 7 December1953.  CONDITION: Excellent clean & unwritten.
