[] Green card cover stapled pamphlet 21x14x0.3cm 32 pages (ie sides) 56g. A E Bennett and H V Borley, David and Charles, 1963. Black and white 3 fold map of geographical LT railways with opening dates tipped into rear cover, and double page Beck style map in centre.A list of opening, closing, and renaming dates of lines and stations’The compiler’s aim has been to provide students of railways with a handy reference work giving the dates of opening and closing of linesmand stations, and the renaming of stations, of all the various railways which merged into the London Transport system. This information, which is presented together for the first time has been exhaustively checked against official and contemporary records and the greatest possible care has been taken to ensure its accuracy and completeness. The opening dates quoted are those at which the lines or stations were open to the general public. The closures follow the usual modern practice ie the dates on and from which the lines or stations were closed (since 1945 nearly always a Monday) as opposed to those on which the last train ran. In ambiguous cases the latter have also been given. In the case of widenings the dates given are those when the works were completed and trains were using both the new and old tracks. With some exceptions goods dates are only given when the line or station was open for goods traffic before the commencement of passenger services.A summary of the principal incorporations and amalgamations etc is given, but it is emphasised that a work of this nature does not purport to be a history. Thanks to J H Boyes, C B Chapman, C R Clinker and G N Webb’. Photo background is cm squares. No reserve, if you bid you will win if you are the highest.
