Marsden Rail!
With the large-scale advent of railway videos in the 1990s, produced from archive cine film, a fascinating film history of Britain’s railways became readily available to a wide audience. Since 1994 CineRail and Marsden Rail have been established as two of the UKs foremost names in the production of railway video and latter railway DVD programmes.

Volume 23 – Gloucester – Routes Around!
**RELEASED 2000**

Scenes at Gloucester focus on the wide variety of services at both Eastgate and Central Stations, together with the attendant locomotive depots of Barnwood and Horton Road.A journey to Severn Tunnel Junction shows the now demolished Severn Rail Bridge and at Severn Tunnel Junction steam and diesel traction is featured, including a SR ‘Z’ class on the shed.Gloucester was also a port and traffic is shown on the Gloucester and Berkeley Canal. In addition to mainline traffic, ex-GWR autotrains are shown in the Golden Valley between Gloucester and Chalford, and railbuses are shown on branchline journeys from Kemble to Cirencester and Tetbury. Finally, a journey to Bristol Temple Meads, with a mixture of ex-GWR and LMS locomotives on view, closes the programme..Between 1959 and 1968, railway enthusiast and cine-cameraman, Michael Marsden, recorded views and sounds of the rapidly changing face of Britain’s rail network. For over twenty-five years after steam ended, he captivated audiences throughout the country with his unique film collection that captured steam’s last decade and the full emergence of the diesel locomotive. The blending of this film and that of other cameramen with true sounds of the era, plus an informative narrative, has resulted in the creation of this superb range of railway videos detailing the last decade of British mainline steam operations..
