An absolutely mint condition copy of an October 1972 publicity brochure produced by BREL at Derby to promote the ill fated Advanced Passenger Train that BR had so many hopes pinned on. Due to minor technical difficulties that were more possibly linked to extreme weather than anything else, the APT was shelved, the idea sold to Italy and then effectively sold back to us as a Virgin Pendolino.
So here is a very rare opportunity to obtain a mint conditioned publicity brochure from a time when it was still the awesome train of the future that everyone hoped for.
The brochure covers many technical details, including a full cut away schematic, with many unique photos of the vehicle, both inside and out and is very of its time. It is a review taken from Flight International aircraft trade magazine, pointing out the many Aerospace refinements that the train had been subjected to.
The person who collected this worked within British Rail’s Scottish publicity department at this time and so it is highly likely that this very fine condition example has never been issued, hence its near perfect condition.
