As an aid in comparing results of one road with another, the principal earnings and capital items are given for the last ten years on a per mile basis.Attention is called to the analytical comments on operations and finances of each of the larger railroads including comparison of operating revenues with U. S. industrial production, also in relation to results of other roads in the same region as well as all Class 1 railroads.Freight traffic statistics are classified for the full ten-year period on the basis of tonnage, carloadings and revenue with group percentages shown in each case. Similar comparisons are shown for principal commodities on a six-year basis. Seasonal trends of freight and passenger revenue, total operating revenue and net railway operating income by months are shown for a period of ten years with 10-year monthly average and monthly percentage of yearly total.
