OREGON SHORT LINE RAILWAY Brass LOCK + KEY Antique Heart Riveted Switch Railroad
Very cool antique heart shaped riveted padlock and key. The swing-away shackle (which was patented in 1887 by Yale and Towne), integrated mechanism, and riveted shell date this padlock from the late 1870s to the early 1900s. Shackle front stamped “S” for switch lock on one side and “A&W CO CHICAGO” on the other. Rear embossed “OREGON SHORT LINE” and front drop embossed “CLOSE THE LOCK TO GET THE KEY OUT”. The key is stamped “O.S.L” and “CS-2” on one side and “A&W Co Chicago”, “11109” and “S” on the other.
Approximate measurements:
Lock: 4″ L x 2 1/2″ W x 1″ H
Key: 2 3/8″ L
After unlocking, we couldn’t get it to lock again – the key fits and turns but doesn’t catch. Otherwise in great condition.
This set would an incredible addition to any lock collection!
