I AM ASSUMING TRAINS des FRANCE WAS A BOOK THAT THIS PIECE WAS COMMISSIONED FOR BUT I’VE
LOOKED AND CANNOT FIND ANY INFORMATION ON ANY BOOK WITH THAT TITLE
THIS WOULD APPEAR TO BE AN ORIGINAL WATERCOLOUR
THE OVERALL CARD MEASURES APPROX 9″ x 5.25″ WITH THE IMAGE MEASURING APPROX 6.75″ x 3.75″
BEARS THE INSCRIPTION IN PENCIL ON REVERSE,
“MIDI RAILWAY OF FRANCE, LOCOMOTIVE “CARBONNE” 1851
THERE ARE SOME NOTES MADE IN THE MARGIN INDICATING THIS ARTWORK WAS A PROOF BEFORE THE
FINAL PIECE WAS PRODUCED FOR PRINTING
I HAVE LISTED A TOTAL OF FOUR OF THESE ILLUSTRATIONS (ALL DIFFERENT). THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY
