This is a very rare and possibly unique original London and North Western Railway notice board . The timber board with applied cast iron letters clearly refers to an early and unusual set of circumstances of at least 2 adjacent wagon turntables. The red oxide patch is where it has been rubbed down to bare wood after restoration to confirm its colour history. During its life it has frequently been repaired in the orange/ red colour as sheen with a couple of repaints during its life in what appears to be black or Prussian blue.. the Matt black on the rear face of the planks is original. The planks are original together with much of the mouldings but there is some replicated timber. There was evidence that the notice had been fixed to a wall which would account for the survival of the black. The board measures 38x26x2 3/8Collection only due to size and cash on collection is fine.
