ORIGINAL VINTAGE HOTEL LUGGAGE LABEL COBURG COURT HOTEL
I am selling off a large collection of original vintage and antique luggage and hotel labels. Many of the labels in this collection are from Fernando Laidleys (1918 – 2010) original collection and stamped on the back with his stamp. He was the foremost Portuguese collector, and there were many Portuguese collectors in the 1960s.Fernando Laidley was an extraordinary man, an adventurer, author and journalist.
In 1955 he bought a secondhand VW Beetle and with a friend, who was a mechanic, and a revolver in the glove compartment set out on a year long trip across Africa. He wrote about his many adventures in his best selling book Four Wheels Round Africa.
He continued to travel widely, collecting labels as he went, as well as a lion who lived with him for two years.His collection included many labels from small, obscure places in Africa, Indian, the Far East and beyond. Fernando started selling off his collection in the late 1960

Coburg Court Hotel london W.2. This oval label measures approximately: 101mm x 127mm.This is a gummed label with original, mainly, unused gum.There is some damage on the back, please look at the photographs carefully. This label is in good vintage condition, please look carefully at the photo.
