Firstly, please note that the clarity and black/white contrast is VASTLY better than it appears in the photo(s) here.
I am auctioning off a few of my duplicate and spare Isle of Wight railway STANDARD POSTCARD SIZE black and white images (sorry you won’t find any of the Adams 02’s here as they are of too much sentimental value to me).
A few of these images might be quite rare, as I have had them for at least half a century now and in all cases have forgotten were I got them from now. If this listing isn’t one that you want then please check out my other listings, as there may be something there that you are looking for.
All are in good enough condition despite their age, but may have a little age yellowing to their rears.
P&P is 99p and will be well packed.
THIS LISTING IS FOR A RATHER LOVELY BLACK & WHITE PHOTOGRAPH OF AN UNKNOWN BEYER PEACOCK LOCO ON A TRAIN OF FOUR WHEELERS APPROACHING MANOR ROAD BRIDGE, WHICH STILL EXISTS JUST SOUTH OF WROXALL STATION SITE AND IMMEDIATELY BEFORE THE NORTHERN PORTAL OF THE TUNNEL THROUGH TO VENTNOR. IT CAN BE SEEN THAT THE LOCO CARRIES NAMELATES. IT COULD BE ONE OF THE ORIGINAL ISLE OF WIGHT RAILWAY BEYER PEACOCKS, LIKELY IN THE PRE 1923 SOUTHERN RAILWAY ERA. IT IS A CHARMING PHOTO DESPITE NOT KNOWING THE LOCO OR YEAR.
THE PHOTO SURFACE IS PRETTY GOOD FOR ITS AGE (THERE IS A BARELY DISCERNABLE LINE DOWN THE IMAGE, RUNNING THROUGH THE LOCO’S RIGHT BUFFER AS WE LOOK AT IT – SEE THE PHOTO HERE – I DOUBT YOU WILL HARDLY SEE IT) BUT THERE IS VERY MINIMAL DISCOLOURATION TO EACH CORNER, WHERE THE PHOTO MOUNTS USED TO BE.
