Description : Railway Map: Bartholomew’s Administrative Railway Map of the British Isles. An original copy and not one of the modern reprints.The map is approximately 87cm x 75cm portrait format and mounted on cloth. Shows the lines of the major grouping companies in different colours and also identifies the Irish railways by the same means.The map is not dated and from my knowledge of some railway closures at least one line which closed in 1933 is not shown while another closed in 1926 still shows. The main Irish system, the Great Southern Railway existed from 1925 to 1945 before becoming CIE. The London area inset in the bottom left hand corner refers to the LPTB which existed from 1933 to 1949. In addition, Bartholomews starting dating their maps after the war so I think it can be safely assumed that the map dates between 1933 and 1945.The previous copy of the map which I sold on eBay had a stuck on price label of Price Three Shillings Net suggesting it was covering up a lower price. This map has completely different covers and a printed price of four shillings suggesting it is later. I don’t think there are any differences to the map and I presume they just folded them and added the covers as required. Condition : The map is in very good clean condition.Weight of items : 130gI allow additional weight to cover not only the actual cost of the postage but to allow for the weight of the packaging, the cost of the packaging materials and the time taken to pack and post the item. The value of the stamp on the packet may be less as a result. UK postage and packing : 1.40 by Royal Mail second class large letter but free to UK addresses.Overseas postage and packing : Please ask before paying as heavy items can be very costly to post or check the United Kingdom’s Royal Mail website for the weight of the item, plus 150g for packaging, to your country by your chosen rate. Remember : nowadays the Republic of Ireland counts as Europe, not UK, for postage rates. UK bidders and buyers, please feel free to go ahead and pay at the end of the auction or when you have purchased the item. There is no need to wait to hear from me. Under normal circumstances your item will be posted next day, weekends excepted.
