An example of an early London Underground map by F. H. Stingemore One of the few accurately dated to January 1926
Issued between 1925 and 1932 on stiff linen-back card with 2 folds in a geographical rather than diagrammatic format as Beck’s iconic design from 1933. Signed FHS at bottom left of map side.
This is a rare map as it was followed quickly by another dated map in April 1926
This map Printed on TEAL GREEN card differs from later examples:
1. Issued by Commercial Managers Office2. Printed by ‘Waterlow & Sons Limited, London, Dunstable & Watford’3. No ‘Places of Interest’ or ‘Theatres’ on rear panels4. ‘Underground’ logo printed at top right5. All stations printed in standard Black rather than colour of lines6. Smaller dimensions7. No River Thames8. Lines to Morden and Kennington shown ‘Under Construction’

Condition: This map is not new. It is in Used condition. Stiff, linen-backed, Teal Green bi-fold card, Generally in good condition. Some wear at hinges particularly at corners. A little grubbiness here and there. A few loose linen threads. Crease at bottom right (date corner). One minor mark near Burnt Oak, but none of these are really a major problem and mentioned for accuracy. (Please see all scans)
