Here is a cab ride DVD made by RBB Media titledDIE SCHONSTEN BAHNSTRECKER Elstertalbahn – Weischlitz to Gera in excellent condition
on DVD. Running Time: approx 79 minutes with cab sounds but no commentary.
The translation (as best as we can make out with our software) reads:-
There are 17 additional stops between Weischlitz and Gera Hbf. In Weischlitz, the
Elstertalbahn creates a connection to the main line Plauen – Bad Brambach, in
Greiz the branch line branches off to Neumark. At the Gera railway junction, the
Elstertalbahn meets the routes to Glauchau, Leipzig, Erfurt and Saalfeld.
The rails cross the river more than 30 times, with 8 tunnels it was considered the
most tunnel-rich section of the former Deutsche Reichsbahn. The highlight is the
trip under the 69 m high Elstertal Bridge, the second largest brick bridge in the world.
The route Reichenbach – Plauen is led over the narrow valley.
232 106. In addition to the BR 132, the BR 219 and 202 are used in front of the
passenger trains. The new VT 628 took over the first services in 1995.
