This is a reasonably good condition scorecard printed for an Eddie Watts – Surrey CCC – benefit match – Southern Railway CC v Sir. E, Gore Browne’s XI – played on Sunday 31st July 1949. The location is not given. Sir E. Gore Browne had a distinguished career in the Army. He was also a merchant banker and then in 1944 became chairman of the Southern Railway. His team consisted mainly of Surrey professional cricketers including of course, Eddie Watts, the Surrey CCC beneficiary in 1949. Also mentioned on the scorecard are Fishlock, the Bedser twins, Laker, Lock, Constable and Fletcher. This is a scarce scorecard which should also interest collectors of Southern Railway material. Condition report above. Please note that I cannot post internationally at the moment.
