SEPTEMBER 1938 LMS RAILWAY MAGAZINE – LONDON & BIRMINGHAM RAILWAY/BLACK COUNTRY
The London, Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS) was a British railway company. It was formed on 1 January 1923 under the Railways Act of 1921, which required the grouping of over 120 separate railways into four.
This edition is for September 1938 featuring: Numerous articles for the London & Birmingham Railway – History, Locomotives, Signalling History, Track of the Centenary, Northampton to Peterborough; Black country; Tring Cutting; Drama of Kilsby Tunnel; LMS School of Transport, with the usual sections for Retirements & presentations with some photos, Temperance Unions, Books, Ambulance Notes, Sports Notes & Events etc. Some great photographs!
Pagination 429 to 482 with a few pages of advertisements. Shows handling with the usual age toning on cover and towards edges of pages and rusty staples. The cover is very grubby, torn in half from back cover which is missing and so completely detached from inner text.
Nevertheless, interesting reading and great item of railway ephemera!
