Southampton & Winchester Great Western Junction Railway1901 plansI am offering for sale an original set of plan for theproposed Southampton & Winchester Great Western Junction Railway asprepared in 1901. These plans were instorage for many years in a roll and had suffered quite a bit of damage. I havehad a paper archivist restore them to a very presentable condition, carryingout repairs to torn and damaged sections and making good where needed. They are now presented as flat sheets (31 x22.5 inches) consisting of a cover, inside cover and 15 sheets of plans. Each plan depicts 1 mile of proposed track. The 17 sheets are protected by a large folderapprox 32 inches by 24 inches. The totalweighs 3.5 kilos net. The proposed line is in two parts. Railway 1 takes the line for about a milesouth from Winchester Chesil Street Station parallel with then existingtrack. Railway 2 branches off a milesouth of Chesil Street Station and runs to the east of Twyford, cutting backwest above Otterbourne (over the then L&SWR railway from Southampton toWaterloo), through Chandlers Ford over the then L&SWR Eastleigh toSalisbury Branch, down through Chilworth, Shirley and directly down toSouthampton docks.
