30 years ago working steam was in its final year of operation on the Isle of Wight. We visit various Island locations and, using archive film, recreate the last days of the legendary O2s. In addition we take a guided tour of the new age of Island steam based at Haven Street, featuring a ‘Terrier’ in action in delightful surroundings.

WESTERN BY-WAYS:

Two railways off the beaten track

The era of branch line steam is relived on the West Somerset Railway and the South Devon Railway. We travel through the Mendip Hills behind a loose coupled freight. Then we travel to the foothills of Dartmoor for a range of motive power in action on one of our longest established private railways.
