Steam World Archive Series

Volume 8 – Scotland and Wales

VHS Video by TeleRail Productions. Released in 1998.

Running time approximately 60 minutes.

“Welcome to this prestigious new archive series which features and important cross section of historic railway films, most of which have never been seen publicly before. These superbly made programmes are produced mainly from the very best footage shot by readers of Steam World back in the 1950s and 60s. Thanks to sophisticated modern transfer techniques, the true quality of much of the original 16mm and 8mm films can now be fully appreciated for the first time. The action ranges from classic main line steam on express passenger workings to rural branch line and trip freight workings. All with the added benefit of carefully matched and authentic sound from the internationally famous Peter Handford collection. So turn back the clock with Tele Rail and enjoy the authentic sights and sounds of yesterday.

This video has been tested and is in very good condition. PLEASE NOTE that it would appear TeleRail have re-used the tape. After the main programme finishes, approximately 65 minutes in, the previous recording carries on – and looks at various preserved steam lines in the U.K. – the reason why it was used again for the main programme is that the tape ends just before the originally recorded programme has finished. The case and sleeve are also in excellent condition.
