 Strathclyde PTE Glasgow orange trains 11 6×4 Colour Prints Set AFromthe dawn of Electric trams in Glasgow in the 1890s, American inspired tractionorange was the main colour and was used on GCT buses, trolleybuses, on the newSubway cars and in the 1980s on the Strathclyde PTE rolling stock. It lasteduntil the PTE was replaced by Strathclyde Passenger Transport, SPT, in 1996which needed a new livery to mark the change. We open with 101688 and 101693 atGlasgow Central in 1995. The class 101 Heritage DMUs came from Metro-Cam inBirmingham in 1956-50 and the last survived until 2003. The final fourteenClass 156 Super-Sprinter Diesel trains were delivered in Strathclyde Orange in1989 and 156508 is at Glasgow central where most of this sequence is shot. TheAM3 Blue Trains entered service in 1960 for the Glasgow suburbanelectrification and were built by Pressed Steel of Paisley. They became Class303 under TOPS and 303020 and 303021 are at Glasgow Central in 1995. 314202, atPaisley was part of a batch of stock intended for inner suburban duties forStrathclyde and dated from 1979. The ill-fated 318254 is at Glasgow Central inJuly 1995, the same month as it overshot the end of the tracks at Largs andcrashed into the road outside. It was rebuilt but had a further accident in2007. Like sister unit 318256, it was build for Strathclyde in 1985-86. GlasgowCentral was an early 1900s rebuilding by the Caledonian chief engineer Donald Mathesonand architect James Miller and the views of 318288 under the train shed showthat with Waterloo station, Glasgow Central is after 100 years one of the twofinest stations in the whole of the UK.
