This item is a leaflet produced in the Art on the Underground series by Transport for London This is a 14 page stapled and folded DL booklet on a programme of music events planned for the Victoria Line during 2016 including an ambitious piece entitled “We Happened to Travel” by Matt Rogers. Underline is a seriesof art and music commissions for the Victoria line, launched in July 2015.The Crossrail of itsday, the Victoria line from Walthamstow to Victoria was opened in 1969, thefirst new Underground line to be built in 60 years. With commissions from threevisual artists, an architectural collective and a composer, Underline will drawinspiration from the character of one of the most intensively travelled lineson the network, and the organisations, communities and histories connected byit.
An ambitious, artist-led programme of events andactivities has been designed for all ages, offering a variety of opportunitiesto explore the ideas and inspiration behind Underline.
Devised and delivered in collaboration with leadingcultural organisations near to the Victoria line, the events will draw upon thethemes of each artists commission and explore connections between theUnderground and the places it serves.
The 2016 programme includes artists talks, familyactivities, an inspiring learning guide for teachers and young people; hands-onworkshop series exploring materials and making; themed guided tours; a schoolworkshop programme and exhibitions; environmental activities and a youngpeoples project.
