Hardback. No Dust-Wrapper. Measures: 7.75 by 10 inches. 88 pages.
With endpaper route maps & illustrations in colour taken from originals executed for the company by Norman Wilkinson.
When the Government took control of the railways in September 1939, the LMS, the greatest of all privately owned railway companies passed, for the duration of the war, into the national service of the country at the highest degree of maintenance and operating efficiency it had ever attained.There are seven tipped in scale drawings of locomotives etc: LMS Diesel Electric Locomotive No. 10000; LNER 4-6-0 Tender Loco; GWR 0-4-0 Tank Loco; LMSR 4-6-0 Tender Loco (3 Cyl. Class 5 XP Express Type No. 5552 and Class 6P No. 6100, “Royal Scot” (Parallel Boiler); LMSR 4-4-0 Tender Loco and LMSR (CR) 0-6-0 Tank Loco.

The contents & hard covers are in good condition. No inscriptions.
