PLEASE BEAR IN MIND THE AGE OF THIS ITEM AND CONDITION WILL GENERALLY REFLECT THAT .This listing is a Map on cloth in hard covers titled ” TUCK’S RAILWAY MAP ” . Measures 9 ” x 5 ” and inside there is a Map and also a Compendium of Information at an original cost of six shillings . The Map opens out to 36 ” x 24 ” in 20 panels and the Compendium 24 ” x 18″ in 12 panels . It is not dated but a previous owner has written in pencil ” Date about 1852 ” but I think it is more than likely to be 1847 . The wording on top right of the Map states ” Railways Open for Traffick , in course of Construction , and Suspended ” . That is correct Traffick !!!! . It is colour coded to show Railways Open and also in Construction plus Suspended . The Compendium lists all the Railway Companies as Colour Coded , Its number on the Map , Name of Railway , Lines belonging to or Leased to , Length in Miles and Terminii or Junctions . In 40 years of collecting Railway stuff I have never seen this Map before – DO NOT MISS IT !!!!!Extremely RARE Tucks Railway Map + Compendium .Condition……the covers are worn and dirty…….the Map and Compendium has browning and foxing consistent with it’s 170 years………FULL REFUND IF YOU ARE NOT HAPPY WITH MY DESCRIPTION WHEN RECEIVED . ……………NOW THE BORING BITS………….. I have been collecting Railwayana and Transport related collectables along with Topography for over 30 years and now is the time to whittle it all down .
