This is a slice of 12 pound Rail I brought back from Montana that was still in a old abandoned Gold/Silver Mine from the early 1900s. Rail weight is measured by the Yard, 1 Yard of this is 12 pounds. This Piece of Rail was made in Illinois in 1937, in the Month of April. This is evident by the 4 slashes on one of the pieces. I cleaned them up to almost their original condition and then applied a light coating of clear coat to help prevent any future rusting. This is part of the Rail has the Makers stamp at the Steel Mill(Chicago?) which is about every 3 feet on the 15 foot piece. Being a Railroader, this is probably the most collectible part of the Rail.
