The Great Central Railway is a heritage railway in Leicestershire, named after the company that originally built this stretch of railway. It runs for 8.25 miles between Loughborough and a new terminus north of Leicester. It has period signals, locomotives and rolling stock. The GCR is currently the only double track mainline heritage railway in the world with 5.25 miles of working double track. 4 stations are in operation, each restored to a period in the railway’s commercial history – Loughborough Central (1950s), Quorn & Woodhouse (WW2 and the remainder of the 1940s), Rothley (Edwardian Era), Leicester North (1960s).
