This auction is for one new Trolley Dodger Records audio CD with a total playing time of 74:26. These are vintage steam train recordings, originally released on LPs in the 1950s. They have been digitally remastered using the best equipment and techniques. This CD comes with the original liner notes for each LP.

The original tape recordings were made in 1955, the last year the North Western operated steam locomotives in thru-service on the systems Wisconsin Division Madison District. The locale is Baraboo and Devils Lake State Park, Wisconsin on the main line between Chicago and Minneapolis. More than four miles of heavy grades between Baraboo and Devils Nose, and the narrow passage between towering 600-foot high quartzite bluffs, where whistle signals have pronounced resounding echoes, makes this territory suited for such recordings.Gone are the nostalgic sounds of steam echoes and thundering exhausts, but the memory is immortal. May they live on in the locomotive lexicon, as a monument to the era when trains were pulled by STEAM POWER.
