Offered is this vintage porcelain china plate decorated with five antique locomotives, apparently a souvenir of Philadelphia, Pa. (although I don’t know what the connection is between the city and the trains). The large, slightly off-center engine is an eight-wheeled “American”; this is surrounded by five others: a “Mogul”, a double-end tank, a Hudson double-ender a double-truck narrow-gauge tank and a ten-wheeled freight locomotive. “Philadelphia, Pa.” appears in gold underneath the center locomotive. The white plate has a double gold rim, one wide and the other narrow. The plate was made by Homer Laughlin in Newell, West Virginia in the “Rhythm” shape. The date code indicates it was made in April, 1953. This may be a rare find; at the time of original listing I could not find another Laughlin “locomotive” plate for sale on eBay.

The plate is approx. 9 1/4″ in diameter. It is in very good to excellent condition, with no chips, cracks or scratches. There is some wear to the gold and a few minor spots on the front and the back.
