Here we have The Royal Blue, a vintage dinner menu for The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad dining car service, featuring the Capitol Building in Washington, DC. Printed in blue on glossy card stock. This is just one of hundreds of pieces we’re listing from one man’s incredible lifetime collection of railroad ephemera. Please see our store for more from this collection — we’re happy to combine shipping at a discounted rate of $3.75 for the first piece, and $1.35 for each additional. If there’s something in particular you’re seeking for your collection, please message us your want list, and we’ll move any that we have up to the top of the pile for listing.
Vintage: circa late 1950s, but no later than 1964 (Based on our large collection of B&O menus, we can place J.B. Martin, the listed manager on this menu, on a dated 1960 menu in our possession. That, and other menus dated 1964 and after with the price of tea at five cents more than that listed on this menu, lead us to believe this menu is no later than 1964, and probably no earlier than 1950. Could be earlier than 1950, but we try to keep our guesstimates conservative.)
Approximate Measurements: please see photos with rulers
Condition: Our photographs reveal the condition best and are the most important part of the description–please enlarge and zoom in on them and examine them carefully. No signs of actual dining car use, but only of light shelf wear obtained while being stored within a civilized home — those spots are pointed out in the photos. Nice and flat, with no curling, rippling, or wrinkling. Very clean and fresh with bright, bold blue print and strong contrast. No time spent in a hot barn or mildewy basement.
We consider funky odors (cigarette smoke, mildew, etc) to be an important part of a condition report. Corndogcache is a 100% non-smoking environment, and we’ll let you know if any of our vintage items smell like it (or anything else) from activities they may have been involved in before they came to us.
The Fine Print:We expect payment within 1 day of purchase. If you’re unable to pay within terms, please reach out with your Plan B. We’re delighted to work with communicators. Silence is not golden in this situation. We don’t accept returns but we will grant you the use of our description and photos so that you can re-ebay the item yourself.Although we don’t accept returns, reach out if you’re unhappy with your purchase! We’re delighted to work with communicators. Let’s see if we can’t fix things.
