The society that supported the Westerham Railway Museum was of course the ‘parent’ organisation that created and oversaw the early years of the Wight Locomotive Society, which later became the now well established Isle of Wight Steam Railway.

This is a 1968 single sided pink foolscap info and booking sheet for a WRM sponsored rail tour on 9/3/68 called the “6.B.6.8”, that marked the opening of the appeal to create the actual museum.

Basically the tour appears to have been a run around the South East in Hastings Diesel Electric Multiple Unit stock.

Added to the fares section in ink is a discount for “WLS MEMBERS” (there is also a little ink deletion on the left margin).

The leaflet is a little aged now with a fair few folds. It will therefore be sent folded.

Also there is a smaller update type leaflet (see photo) which is a circular sent out to all those who expressed interest (myself included) in the tour as it was originally announced. From this it appears the original plan had been to operate this with a 5 BEL unit and that is what probably first attracted me (I didn’t book when it became the Hastings units)! It has my name added and is signed by the secretary (David Perry). It has also been folded and I guess was included with the other updated leaflet.
